Steel & Lavender (2007) is Van den Berg's first documentary since 1986. It tells a classic rise and fall story of the late Dutch shipping tycoon Cornelis Verolme. The story is told through several interviews and archive material, but really 'revives' Verolme through his own words coming from an old tape recorder. The film was nominated for best documentary at The Grand Prix of the Dutch Film in 2007.
